Low back pain can range from annoying to crippling. Inability to complete yardwork, your workday, exercise, or even simply sit down comfortably is not a norm that you should settle for.
Low back pain can be reduced depending on its cause. One cause of low back pain is Lower Cross Syndrome. Tight hip flexors (illiacus, rectus femoris, and psoas to name a few) and low back muscles such as the quadratus lumborum pull the pelvis forward causing pain in the lower back. This syndrome also involves weakness in the glutes and core!
Below is a visual to help you understand what this means.
It takes time for these tension patterns to form, so it will take time to correct them. Once you decide to make corrections it is so important to stick to a regular regimen. Massage therapy, strength training, physical therapy and chiropractic care are great options. Often, You will need a combination of these!
You and I can work together to customize a massage for your needs!
When I feel that there is muscle weakness or are tension patterns beyond my scope of practice, I refer to my favorite physical therapist, chiropractors, or your doctor.
Sleeping on your stomach, favoring one leg over the other, improper lifting, and lack of stretching can all contribute to low back pain.
